Road Trip

An acquaintance Dan Zimmerman of local the company Alloy Construction purchased a car over the holidays in Florida and asked if I would help him drive it back to Virginia.  The draw was a skatepark tour of with intentions of hitting 8 parks in 4 states, in 4 days. Within 3 weeks we were on a plane and at our first park in Jupiter, Fl. The trip was amazing. We skated a wide variety of terrains, met some good people and learn a lot about each other lives and families. In total, we ended up skating 5 parks in Florida, getting lost in Georgia, arriving at another park in South Carolina 10 minutes before closing and skating an amazing private bowl in Charlotte, NC. On the last day we opted out of the last skatepark in order to make it home in time to see our kids before bedtime. Dan had the best quote of the trip when he dropped me off at home after spending 4 days together in a VW Beetle. He said, ” It was really good to meet you.” I smiled and ran inside just in time to give my daughter the biggest hug ever and put her to bed. Good times. Thanks Dan.
